Hi, I’m Debra!

I am a bio mom to 2. God mom to 2. and Foster mom to many.

I am a licensed social worker in Texas, and married to a licensed social worker. It’s a pretty fun story how we met, I’ll share that another day.

I was a CPS conservatorship caseworker for over 8 years. As a caseworker, there is a policy not allowing you to be a licensed foster home. I get the reason behind that, but also don’t agree with it. again, a conversation for another day.

My social work career has revolved around working with children and families – from child welfare, to education, to medical social work. I always knew I wanted to work with families, but in the last 4 years this passion has shifted.

In 2021, after leaving CPS, my husband and I decided it was time to become licensed foster parents and begin this new journey! Since 2021, we have had 10 kids placed in our care temporarily, and in our hearts forever.

We truly believe this is the calling God has placed on our hearts, and we love it. We may not always like going thru these tests and trials, but we love being the comfort and love a child needs during the time they are in our home.

Even more, I want to be a support to foster mamas. We are in this together and do exceedingly better knowing we have a village supporting us along the way.

This next step in my journey is here. I want to support my community of foster parents, and I want to support a larger audience of foster parents here and thru podcasting.
